My name is Cade Mecham. I was born in Fontana California and raised in Portland, Oregon. Since graduating high school, I have lived in about 8 different states before I discovered St. George, Utah. After moving to St. George I joined the Army National Guard and deployed to Bagdad, Iraq in 2011.
Upon my return, I decided I needed to get an education. I wasn't sure what I wanted to go to school for but, Dixie was an obvious choice because of where it is. I love the small cleanliness of St. George and I LOVE the outdoors. St. George offers the best of both worlds. If you need to get an outdoor fix, Zion is close by and people come from all over the world to see Zion. If you need to get crazy, Vegas is only about an hour and a half away and people
also come from all over the world to experience Vegas. After deciding I was going to stick around Southern Utah, I had to decide what I wanted to go to school for.
After looking at my options, I decided to go into film because my friends and I used to make our own videos growing up and it was something I was interested in. I'm still not sure whether or not I will be looking to pursue a career in television but, I feel like it has served my interests well. If anything, I am looking forward to video making as a hobby. I've learned a lot about lighting, editing and videoing and it's been a good time so far. I've also been interested in photography and I am excited to learn from this class.
As far as my picture taking ability, I feel like I have a good eye for what a shot should look like but, I have only taken pictures with my phone. I am really looking forward to learning all the different types of shots and lenses used in photography.
